This morning I read Tim Elmore’s latest blog post. The first 2/3rds of the post deal with the communication gap between the iY Generation and older generations. (The other 1/3rd of the post is a plug for Tim’s new book on the subjuct, “Habitudes for Communicators”. I plan on picking it up.) The post provides some good observations points to think about as you work to communicate effectively with your students.

What are some ways you are communicating with your students? What have you found to be difficult? What have you found to be effective?

You can find the post HERE.

FYI: I have used Dr. Elmore’s Habitudes and other resources and have found them very useful. See his website here.

I came across this infographic from Mashable via Hackcollege. It is worth some time. The world around us is becoming more connected and the cell phone / smart phone is playing a very big role. This infographic gives a great picture of how ‘connected’ college students are to their cell phones. You can find the article HERE. What are you thoughts?

BTW: Mashable is a great website/blog to follow for staying up with all things tech. I don’t know much about HackCollege.

UPDATE: Here is another interesting infographic on College web use. See it HERE.

A came across this article today on MASHABLE. This site is a great place to keep up with what’s happening in the world of technology. This article deals with collegiates and their use of technology. Take a look at it HERE.

Stress is not an uncommon thing for any student or non-student for that matter. But is the amount of stress increasing and are students dealing with more in their lives today (than say a generation ago) creating more emotional and mental stability issues? Some would think so. I would tend to agree.

I have honestly referred more kids to counselors this school year than any year previous. I predict I will continue to see this.

One word the Huffington Post article issues best describes what I am seeing – “Overwhelmed.” Here is the ARTICLE. Take a look and let me know what you think. There are related post at the bottom of the article (I have not read them yet.) They might be worth taking a look at as well.

What are you seeing among the student population you work with?

Guy Chmieleski over at Faith on Campus just finished up another blogathon. This one was “Sex & Soul”. I have read a handful of the post and looking forward to reading a few others. It will be worth your time to look through the archive. The post are very insightful and may be helpful to you in your ministry in helping your students navigate these waters.

Here is another article on how Gen Y’ers will impact the world today. Interesting read. Find the article HERE
